DJ akindo has been DJ'ing for 12 years and has played in 12 countries (Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Belgium, Greece, UK, Denmark, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia), at more than 100 parties. He has played in places such as clubs (the biggest being SeOne, London), squats, and outdoor parties in forests and fields. In the beginning of his career, akindo focussed on psychedelic trance, playing alongside well-known acts such as GMS, Grapes of Wrath, Kindzadza, Fungus Funk, Rinkadink, Aphid Moon, Exaile, Void, and Chris Organic. When the psychedelic trance scene seemed to slow its progression, he broadened his repertoire to include progressive house, progressive trance, breakbeat, dub, and chill out, resulting in a broad library of music to draw from. He is currently working on creating more interactive DJ sets allowing on-the-fly remixing of tracks with Ableton Live and a Virus TI2.

akindo started listening to goa trance in 1996 when he heard the album "Astral Projection: The Astral Files" at the age of 13. He went to his first trance party at the age of 15. It was at Mt. Fuji, Japan, with Growling Mad Scientists live. He got tuned in to breakbeat by his Australian buddy Kieran and progressive house by friskyRadio.com.

akindo grew up in Denmark, lived four years in Tokyo, three years in Vienna, eight years in the UK including London, and is now back in Denmark. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from University of Kent, an MSc in Data Communications, Networks, and Distributed Systems from University College London, and works as a programmer.

The picture above is a page scanned from the Bomberman World manual. It depicts Bonba Akindo. He is the character DJ akindo uses in the PlayStation game "Bomberman World", and hence how he got his name. The description to the left of Bonba Akindo says that he picks various "healing herbs" from the forest.
